Average Daily Temperatures and Rainfall.

During the summer months Florida is very humid and you can expect thunderstorms most afternoons. These can be welcome as they do cool things down somewhat. Sometimes the storms can be very fierce and wind speeds can increase along with severe lightning. Normally these storms are short lived and things dry out very quickly.

Temperatures.

The sun in Florida can be much more intense than it appears especially in the summer months and you should bear this in mind and wear some adequate sun protection. It is still possible to get sunburn even if it is cloudy. Parents should ensure that small children are effectively protected and re apply sunscreen after swimming.

During the winter months, from November to March, the temperatures can be pleasant during the day but chilly at night. Even with the possibility of frost in the more northern regions!! Cold fronts push their way down the state throughout the winter as they come further south with the jet stream. The further south you are in Florida the less likely it is for you to feel the icier temperatures.

Rainfall

When it rains in Florida, mainly during the months of June to September, it can be quite torrential and heavy. On interstates you see the traffic slowing right down as visibility reduces, rain can be seen bouncing back up off the roads to a height of around 12 inches. Again, these downpours are quite short.

Hurricanes.

Florida is in the Hurricane belt and has at times had some pass over the state causing some damage. Hurricane Season in Florida is from March to November. However it is worth remembering that these storms are few and far between and don’t happen that often. The state is well organised for such events and plenty of notice is always given. The coastal areas are always the areas that bear the brunt of Hurricanes as they slow down as they cross over land.

Finally after all said and done the weather in Florida is superb and they do average 360 days a year of sunshine.
